ASHEVILLE, NC

The Biltmore Estate

From downtown city vibes, a huge craft beer scene, stunning estates, and the great outdoors, Asheville has something for everyone. Named as one of the top things to do in Asheville, you can spend the day at the Biltmore Estate. Hear about the history of the home, explore the gardens, and take a stop at the winery. There are different tours of the home based on your interests, including the chance to see the property from the rooftop. Afterwards, you can explore the six gardens, where the roses and other flowers should be in full bloom around Mother’s Day. There is also a conservatory for all the exotic plants that call the property home. Finally, wrap up your visit with a trip to their award-winning winery for a complimentary tasting and wander to the Wine Bar for locally-sourced charcuterie offerings.

Is mom more of an outdoor adventurer? That works for Asheville too! With the Blue Ridge Mountains nearby, the hiking trails are in abundance. There are options to hike, mountain bike, or even take the water route with kayaking. You definitely won’t be bored in your exploration of nature here.

Here’s the perfect cabin for your family’s adventure! You can even bring the pups too.

SARASOTA, FL

Enjoy a sunset stroll at the Sarasota Bayfront

When you hear Florida, your mind may go straight to the beach. Lucky for you and Mom, Sarasota has even more to offer. The local arts and culture scene is quite promising in this area with a variety of museums and artists. One of the more unique offerings is The Ringling, former home to the circus giant John Ringling and his wife, Mable. Their collection features European and Asian art, and there is a museum of modern art on the premises as well. Plus, they have a Circus Museum as well! Add a show onto your culture-filled day with an opera show or one of the many local theaters.

While Florida has more than just beaches, theirs are worth focusing on! Siesta Beach was voted by Trip Advisor as the #1 beach in the U.S. for 2025, and it is family-friendly. The only potential downside of going is that it can be a bit of a walk from parking to the beach itself. If you are looking for something a little easier on kiddo legs, check out Nokomis Beach. Finally, if you want to go hunting for shark teeth, head down to Venice Beach instead.

We found the perfect 5-star Airbnb for your stay too!
